Black Friday Shopping for Teenagers

- Image via Wikipedia
I’m a sucker for researching deals online. Have I ever woken up at 4 am to stand in a freezing cold line to buy a Black Friday sale item?? No…. But never say never. I’m really more of an online gal and prefer to do most of my shopping (if I can) online. But, I know some of you DO participate in this truly American rite of shopping passage – the Black Friday madness. So, for you..I want to pass along a few things.
Amazon
This year, Amazon is holding their Black Friday sale all week long. So, actually it started on Monday. Every day they are featuring new product deals – some of which might appeal to you. Here is a calendar of all their products for their Black Friday “week”. Here’s the link to go to the Black Friday products.
Apple
There have been rumors swirling that Apple will offer discounts of up to 30% on their products. If it’s true, and you need a computer or a Nano now would be the time! Here is one of the sites that have mentioned this rumor. Remember, do your homework and don’t believe anything unless it’s printed FROM Apple. They will open at 8:00 a.m. (I went to the store and asked this to confirm).
Sam’s Club
I’ve read about the Acer Aspire One 10″ Netbook going for $197.00 at Sam’s Club. If you are a member, you might check out their flyer or website. The Sam’s Black Friday list is already published so check it out.
Martin + Osa
On Thanksgiving weekend, Martin + Osa will be offering all denim (regularly priced at $89.50 – $120) and cashmere (regularly priced at $130 – $170) at a special promotional price of $59 each. Their in-store sale starts on November 27 at 12am and on November 26 in their online store.
Target
One of the first things I noticed on Target’s Black Friday list was a $25.00 gift card for each $100.oo spent. If you can’t find anything for your teenager, at least you can hand the gift card over to them to buy something for themselves (sometimes the easier course of action). I’m also interested in the Champion fleece jackets for Men or Women for $15.00 – perfect for teens and the impending cold weather.
Ikea
My son loves the food at Ikea. Their meals are tasty yet affordable. In fact, they’re usually downright cheap. Friday they are taking it to a new extreme by offering their meatball plate for $.99. You can feed a lot of teenagers for a dollar. I also noticed they were offering gift wrap and ribbon for $.99 each and a set of six red wine glasses for $1.99 - a very good deal if you need them. For a teenagers room or college dorm room – the Leksvik CD tower is selling for $29.00. It could also be used for DVD’s I’m sure. Here’s their BEST deal – FREE breakfast and coffee until 10:30. That’s good whether you buy anything or not!
H&M
H&M Friday Store Hours: Most H&M stores will open at 6a.m. - some will open as early as 5am
25% off any item of your choice from opening until 10AM – Select outerwear styles discounted 50% percent
LADIES: Knitted dresses from $10.00 – $34.95 and party dresses starting at $15.00 (great deal for teen girls)
MEN: Patterned shirts from $10.00- $29.95 and Merino wool sweaters from as low as $15.00 – $39.95. Knit pullovers from $10.00 – $24.95. And, winter knit accessories for both sexes will be on sale from a bargain basement $5.00 - sounds good huh?
Sports Authority
It looks like the early bird specials may be particularly good at Sports Authority. I haven’t seen many details but it looks like their sports shoes and socks are going to be discounted as much as 40% ( early bird discounts). They too are offering a great deal on micro-fleece jackets ($12.99) and if you’re having company for the holidays, their airbed offer is pretty good (queen airbed for $19.99).
Shuttle Computers
Select retailers will offer SHUTTLE XPC computer models for as much as 50% off on the U.S.’s biggest shopping holiday of the year. During the weekend of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, SHUTTLE will be offering deals on its entry-level and mainstream XPC models.
“We cannot release yet which stores will have these deals, but expect it to be at one of the major retailers or online retailers,” said Nicolas Villalobos, Manager at Shuttle Computer Group in Los Angeles, “If anything, one of the popular deal sites who are aggressively tracking Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals should have this information once it’s available. Just know that it will be ‘Pink’.”
Waking Up Is Hard to Do
This is hardly a complete list of Black Friday options, but it’ll get you started! In my experience, the best way to decide if it’s worth it or not, is to sign up for email notifications for the items or store of interest – here’s a good place to start. Do your homework . Other than the free breakfast at Ikea, nothing’s free and it’s never a good deal if you don’t need it. But, if you’re into Black Friday for the experience go ahead – enjoy and have fun!
Disclaimer: The information and pricing posted above is NOT to be considered as definitive. In fact, the information changes daily. So, please check with your retailer or online before purchasing or waking up at o’dark thirty to stand in a cold line…
