The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim happened this week-end in Miami, Florida.  I have a particular fondness for Lycra but the truth is, the folks that sent me these pictures weren’t probably targeting me – I’m not hip enough to wear these things. However, they sent me some cool pictures and the fashion show also had a retrospective to it – “the past 50 years of innovative swimwear technology through fiber and fabric techniques, INVISTA showcased historical garments from the 1960’s to the 1990’s, 2010 designer collections containing LYCRA® fiber and Xtra Life LYCRA® fiber and concept suits created by garment manufacturers forecasting the next generation of design and fabrication”.  I would have enjoyed seeing that.  I particularly like the swimsuits of the 1950’s.  My mother’s photo album has lots of pictures of her with her friends at the beach (in their cool ’50s suits).  I’m sorry they didn’t send me pictures of the retrospective.

The runway show was hosted by Gretta Monahan, featured swimwear from the past and present, as well as concept designs of future swimwear innovations. The show and after-party were attended by ” Miami influencers and fashion insiders” According to the press release, “Trendsetters Gretta Monahan, Whitney Port, Kelly Bensimon and Brooklyn Decker hosted the ELLE MAGAZINE after-party while DJ Sky Nellor spun tunes for revelers”. Whoa..sounds like it was a good time. Anyway, I’m writing this because I thought you would enjoy the pictures.  Ahhh…. to be twenty something and going to parties in Miami!
