Driving and Texting
I just received some information about a product that should help with the texting/driving problem. There are several products
on the market that disable the phone temporarily (via bluetooth) but this product works slightly differently so I’ll be interested to see if/how it works. It is currently under development and a beta release is targeted in early August.
ZoomSafer is:
- free to download and activates automatically when driving, reminding users to be safe with personalized safety messages from friends, family and even celebrities.
- able to suppress unwanted calls, messages and alerts and selectively informs friends, family, co-workers, and social networks of your “driving” status and location.
- features the ZoomMate Voice Safety Portal (VSP) which includes the ability to create/send voice-powered emails, text messages, and Tweets.
It would be nice to have some products on the market that might be able to deal directly with the texting while driving issue. Although the easiest, most effective way is to have self-control; teenagers aren’t known for self-control. And, many adults I see obviously have a hard time too. I’ve almost had three accidents recently from an encounter with a texting adult fool. We adults don’t set a very good example that’s for sure.
*I’ve not received any money or product in exchange for this information. I share it freely with my readers. Let’s hope it helps!

Stumble it!

The other morning I saw a motorcycle cop working his Blackberry while at a stop light; my 16-year old had a front-row seat, as well. It was one of those “do-as-I-say, not-as-I do” teaching moments for my newly-licensed daughter. Maybe I should send the link for ZoomSafer to my local police department.

Isn’t that the truth? I’ve seen policemen do the same thing. And, I see adults do it all the time. Of course, I live in Silicon Valley so I thought it was more apt to happen here. I guess it’s a nationwide problem.

Its true, the police force make their own rules.
ZoomSafer is a great product, however needs a little more tweaking.
