A Good Blog is Hard to Find….Or Is it?
Sometimes there are more blogs than time to read. And, unfortunately there are many unknown and/or new blogs that are relatively unknown. It’s hard for new blogs with quality content to rise to the top. Gone are the days of Google noticing the latest blog. It takes much effort and readers for a new blog to become visible to the world at large. Being “discovered” is rare. Slow, hard work is the rule and even then, most bloggers slog away in relative obscurity. It’s only the top 10% that get read by the world at large.
For me, it’s a time issue. I would love to be able to push a button and have 10 funny, well-written, thoughtful, intelligent posts available to me. If they can come to me without doing anything – all the better. I am a loyal, supportive reader for those blogs that strike my fancy. Also, I tend to root for the underdog. Some of the best dialog I’ve read has been on a relatively unknown blog. And, the resources I find are bookmarked and oftentimes re-used over and over. Most of my best leads for stories, videos, online shopping, “how-to’s” comes from blogs. But you probably have never heard of them.
So I was really glad to hear about this. Bloggers finding, reading and supporting other bloggers. Because, whether you know it or not, the number of people who come to your site makes your site more visible to others. It’s as simple as that. But, it’s the chicken and the egg thing all over again. No one knows you, so no one visits. This blogger’s idea is that bloggers form a group whose sole raison d ‘etre is finding blogs with good content and reading them. The more readers to a blog, the higher the possibility the blog will be “found” by passer-by readers…people who weren’t actively looking for you.
If you’re a blogger, please check out Chuck Westbrook’s site and help us build traffic for unknown bloggers. If you’re a reader, hold on – I’ll be back soon with some really good suggestions for you.
